Joseph Smith has a granddaughter through his son, Alexander Hale Smith named after her grandmother, “Emma Belle Smith”. She was born 17 Mar 1869 and died 3 May 1960. On the 5th of May 1887, she married my great grandfather, William Forrester Kennedy. They had 5 children, the first 3 died at birth or shortly there after. The next child was my grandfather, Roger Alexander Kennedy and three years later his sister was born, Glenna Marie Kennedy. Two children surviving to adulthood.
During the winter of 1933 she has a dream and records it recognizing the dream was an answer to her prayers about not only her family but the descendants of Joseph and Emma. She was 64 years old at the time having this dream and recording it.
While in prayer I fell asleep to dream I was in a room where all was confusion were chair, table, and other furniture was piled high with household goods. In the center of the room I saw tiny old trunk such as my grandmother had. It was old fashioned and the till was raised so I could see it lined with wallpaper like the old time trunks were lined. The till was full of lint and broken thread and odd bits such as will gather in time when anything lays open for years.
I went to the trunk and from the till picked up a three strand necklace of pearls. As I lifted them I saw two strands was broken and the pearls had broken loose from the necklace. As I ran my fingers through the bottom of the till, I gathered the lint and and pearls and let them slip thru my fingers. I was given to know they were precious real jewels. I then ran my fingers thru the chest and refuse in the till and picked up the pearl(s) that lay in the till loose, scattered. As I picked them up I held them in one hand & searched for the others with the other. I had found all but two while I held in my left hand I had almost a handful when a woman came in and came up to me and said where are the diamonds. I answered I did not know you had any diamonds, where are they? I did not stop turning the dust over in the till, but I held out to her the beads I held in my hand that I had gathered from the till of the old trunk, she said no. You keep the pearl(s) they are yours. And again she asked where are the diamonds and again I said I do not know. And I awoke.
She indicates in her journal that she fasted and prayed for the meaning of the dream and at evening she indicated she received what she had asked God for. The room she went in was the condition Joseph and Emm’s family was at that day in 1933. No order in the Church and their faith covered over with useless things, confusion in all that one holds dear. The pearls are the descendants of Joseph Smith. The three strands are the descendants of Joseph and Emma. These are the only children of Joseph Smith who had posterity down to this day. The strings were broken as having become lost to the truth their grandfather had taught. The pearls became scattered but would become gathered one day after the priesthood was found meaning the diamonds. She did not know the importance of the priesthood authority from God. It is through the priesthood that the Joseph Smith lines would be sealted together. The pearl necklace would once again come together. The unbroken strand would restore that priesthood representing Alexander’s family.
The diamonds would listen to the voice of the Spirit and would restore the broken strands by removing the dust of doubt, confustion and eventually declaree the gospel to all mankind. The seed of Joseph would cry repentance to the world until the Savior comes. Joseph’s seed would arise and shake off the dust of fear and doubt. The string of pearls will again be compete as it was after the Lord call them at “ambay”. (Note: Ambay is a lullaby; they were lulled to sleep away for that which Joseph taught.
The Lord said unto her: “I have declared the honest in heart shall come. I shall the wandering sheep to return and low many shall hear my voice, and many shall rejoice. Yea I shall them from west and the east and from across the great waters I shall search for the seed of Joseph and bring them in, they shall come with rejoicing and song. I am grieved and hurt because many have no desire to come. And it by the hand of sorrow and trial yea affliction I will bring them and say unto you study to help and cheer my people. That they may overcome the false pride they hold. And that they may come when their hearts are hungry for my blessings thus saith the spirit. “
On the 21 April 1974, the Melchizedek priesthood was administered to Joseph Smith’s third great grandson, the first to receive the priesthood since Joseph Smith. After August 25, 1984, the work began to perform the ordinances of the temple that Joseph Smith restored to the descendants of Joseph and Emma. Joseph Smith’s immediate family temple work was completed in the early 1970’s. By May of 2000 it was reported to the Quroum of Twelve Apostles that all of the temple ordinances and the sealings of family for the children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and those that qualified for the next generation were completed.
